CROFT provided full architectural and engineering design for the addition of two new facilities at the densely developed Wheeler High School campus in East Cobb. The 35,000 SF west addition sited carefully to the rear of campus consists of a 750-seat performing arts center, pre-function space, and new classroom facilities. The 65,000 SF south addition includes a new 3,000-seat sports arena, classrooms, locker rooms, indoor running track, staff offices, viewing platforms, and a pre-function area tied into existing core areas and staff parking area. The final portion included a new fieldhouse, stadium seating, outdoor lighting, concession stand, and track and tennis court resurfacing.
CROFT carefully developed a site master plan, architectural and engineering design, and multi-step construction phasing and laydown plan that allowed the integration of these two new facilities into an existing 2,300-student campus without disruption of classes or extracurricular functions. The new state-of-the-art venues integrate seamlessly into pre-established building elements and adjacencies on campus and are the new prototype for high school performing arts and athletic facilities throughout Cobb County.
